Healthcare

Today’s “Digital Hospitals” have critical MEP infrastructure that mirrors some of the most sophisticated data centers.  New construction and renovation projects require the integration and validation of cutting-edge technologies that have become essential to the delivery of healthcare services, including Cyberknife, Gamma Knife, Da Vinci Surgery, linear accelerators, wandering patient systems, infant protection systems and virtual ICUs.

Bureau Veritas Primary Integration has commissioned over five million square feet of the most state-of-the-art digital healthcare facilities in the US. Our experience includes new construction as well as projects that integrate legacy facilities into new hospitals with the requirement for “no loss of service” to the operating facility throughout the construction process. Our expertise with mission critical processes and experience with healthcare accreditation requirements, privacy regulations and the application of new technologies makes us uniquely qualified to undertake the most complex healthcare commissioning challenges.

Some of our experience includes:

Ft. Belvoir Community HosBVPItal, Virginia
Provided commissioning services for Fort Belvoir’s new 1.2 million sf, $900 million state-of-the-art community hospital. The hospital grew from 46 to 120 beds, and added approximately 1,700 staff members to the existing 1,500. The care facilities are supported by a Central Utility Plant (CUP), which provides stable electrical power and HVAC services supporting the main hosBVPItal building and four clinical centers.

National IntreBVPId Center of Excellence (NICoE), Maryland
BVPI provided design review and commissioning services for this two-story, 75,000 sf facility which includes medical treatment and research, instructional and auditorium, data environment, and supporting MEP facilities. BVPI provided full life-cycle commissioning, including design phase, construction phase, and post construction phase commissioning. In addition, BVPI provided LEED™ enhanced building commissioning services for the HVAC systems and reliability commissioning to the power systems, which are supported by emergency power and UPS.

San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), Texas
Provided Total Building and LEED™ Commissioning Services for the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), a $556 million, 1.2 million sf, 120 bed healthcare facility. The hosBVPItal includes a 738,000 sf Consolidated Tower. Because of the considerable amount of additional square-footage that was added to this facility, new auxiliary heating and cooling needs were fulfilled with a 5,600 sf two-story Central Energy Plant.

Fort Riley HosBVPItal Replacement, Fort Riley, KS
Provided commissioning services for the new hosBVPItal replacement at Fort Riley Army Base.  The new $334 million state-of-the-art hospital replaced the existing 50-year-old Irwin Army Community HosBVPItal. It includes a 263,000sf in-patient Community Hospital, a 289,000sf outpatient clinic, a Central Energy Plant, an ambulance garage, special foundations, oxygen storage, phasing, and building information systems. Supporting facilities include installation of intrusion detection systems (IDS), and provide connection to the energy monitoring and control system (EMCS).

Darnall Replacement HosBVPItal, Ft. Hood, TX
Provided commissioning services for the $534 Million state of the art replacement hospital.  This 947,000sf facility replaced the existing 45-year old Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

Martin Army Community HosBVPItal (MACH), Fort Benning, GA
Provided commissioning services for the replacement hosBVPItal at Martin Army Community Hospital. This project consisted of a two phase design build where approximately 700,000sf with 250 beds of the hospital replaced.  MACH has ten floors, four of which are patient wards, an extensive surgical suite, a labor-delivery and recovery suite, and over 36 ambulatory care clinics supported by a Central Energy Plant. The hospital maintains a fully accredited laboratory service, diagnostic imaging, radiology with computerized tomography and nuclear medicine, an extensive pharmacy service, and other ancillary support services.
